Children

At Gathering Delco we believe that children and youth have a deep capacity to connect with God.

Through things like play, art, movement, worship, friendships and serving others as full participants in our church community we see children thrive in their faith formation.

Our weekly Worship Gatherings include a monthly Saturday 5:00pm Gathering at St. Stephen’s Church in Norwood and weekly Sunday 10:30am Church in the Living Room at one our homes. Each of our gatherings are intergenerational and are crafted with children and their families in mind.

We take seriously our God given responsibility to care honorably for young people, therefore we follow safety practices when teaching children such as keeping up to date on child clearances and background check for all volunteers and staff.

From a child's perspective

“First, I worship with my family in the church room. I can sing, dance, sit quietly or be held by parent or caregiver while we all sing songs to God who loves us. In this space I learn that God gives me joy. At church I belong and make friends with lots of different kinds of people.

After the worship songs, I have the option to go with my teacher and a helper to the community room and play with friends and learn more about God. Here I learn that God loves me, and I can know about his goodness through the bible and prayer. Then my family comes to meet me, and everyone has fun hanging out in community room, sometimes having a snack before we go home.

On Sundays mornings I go to Pastor Amy’s house for “Church in the Living Room.” I sing songs, play with toys or draw while we talk about God. The kids and grownups hangout together, and when I feel like it, I share my ideas about the bible and pray. Sometimes we share communion or have a snack. Afterwards we can hang out and play until it’s time to go home.”
